The U.S. Employers’ Guide to Hiring Refugees is a practical toolkit intended to help employers who are interested in hiring refugees in the United States but don’t know where to start. The guide is intended to help companies design and implement refugee employment programs that will be maximally successful for employers and refugees alike. This guide was a collaboration between the Tent Partnership for Refugees and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS), a national resettlement organization with more than 20 years of experience across the United States supporting refugee career entry and advancement while responding to the latest immigration workforce and market trends. IIE Scholar Rescue Fund: Fellowships For Threatened Scholars Around The World
The Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) is the only global program that arranges funds and supports fellowships for threatened and displaced scholars at partnering higher education institutions worldwide, including inside their home regions. At the heart of IIE-SRF is the idea that each scholar we support is a beacon of hope in our world. The program supports the scholar appointment with a financial award of up to $25,000 for one year (renewable for a second year), which the institution must at least match. Since 2022, IIE-SRF has supported 1,093 scholars from 62 countries in partnership with 500 host institutions in 56 countries. New University in Exile Consortium
The New University in Exile Consortium programs are meant to instill a sense of belonging to an intellectual community and to decrease the sense of isolation and dislocation that exiled scholars suffer. Whether meeting online or in person on one of our member-institution campuses, the Consortium provides opportunities for our scholars to connect, and engage with each other and the global academic community. The programs foster intellectual dialogues around global threats to academic freedom, the value of free inquiry, and the future of higher education and scholarship as well as provide an opportunity and the tools for collaborative research. Scholars at Risk protects scholars suffering grave threats to their lives, liberty, and well-being by arranging temporary research and teaching positions at institutions in our network as well as by providing advisory and referral services. Universities, colleges, and other institutional members of the SAR Network have a variety of opportunities to make a difference in protecting threatened scholars and strengthening the university space. SAR staff will work closely with your institution to tailor these activities to your institution’s needs and capacity.
