Renata Maurizshe/her Director of Immigrant Services, Bunker Hill Community College
Renata Mauriz is currently the Director of Immigrant Services at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC), the largest community college in Massachusetts. In this inaugural role, she serves as a point of access and support for all students at BHCC who identify with immigrant experiences, especially those who are undocumented, asylum seekers, refugees, have DACA, TPS, or hold other forms of temporary immigration status. Through this new position, she contributes to the success of these students by providing strengths-based advising, creative problem-solving, culturally relevant programming, and connections to community resources that help students feel welcomed and achieve their goals. She is proud to direct and participate in institutional and state advocacy efforts designed to change policies to ensure all students receive the same opportunities, regardless of their immigration status. As a DACAmented educator and community advocate, she is personally rooted in the stories, aspirations, and knowledge immigrant students bring to campus.
