Pam joined ASU after decades working in UN global humanitarian response. In 2018, Pam was recruited by ASU to lead an initiative to improve access to higher education for refugees globally (Education for Humanity). She also oversees the work to make ASU Arizona campuses "refugee-friendly" (including coordinating support for seventy Afghan women refugees who arrived in late 2021 - a cosponsorship arrangement with IRC). She is on the Executive Board of Arizona's Welcome to America Project and works closely with refugee-serving organizations and ECBOs in Arizona. She is also Professor of Global Studies and a Horn of Africa specialist.
