The U.S. is home to more than 408,000 undocumented students enrolled in higher education. Undocumented students pursue postsecondary education to ready themselves to fill critical skills shortages and become better positioned to support their families, communities, and, as a result, the U.S. economy. They face many immigration-related barriers to higher education, including out-of-state tuition costs in states without tuition equity, no access to federal financial aid, and other state or campus-level policies that limit their higher education access, degree completion, and post-graduate career prospects.
